Why we recommend it

Low-carb bread has a texture problem that it usually solves with gum, and you can taste it. This one lands closer to the real thing, and it is better toasted than fresh, which is worth knowing before you judge the first slice.

The olive oil is a real distinction rather than a marketing one: nearly everything at this end of the market uses rapeseed or sunflower because it is cheap and tastes of nothing. At 1.7g a slice you can have two rounds of toast and still be under what one slice of ordinary white would have cost you.

This bread is delicious as is but when toasted it is amazing. Delicious slightly malty flavour which lathered in butter is simply divine.

How we choose products

Nothing gets on this list because a brand asked. We try everything ourselves. And only recommend things we'd feed to our families.

The carb bands are ours. Zero is under a gram a serving, Low under five, Medium under ten. Where a product's own marketing and its nutrition panel disagree, the panel wins and we say so on the page.

Only carbohydrates become glucose. Protein becomes amino acids and fat becomes fatty acids, which is why a fatty snack with two grams of carbohydrate does very little to your glucose and a fat-free one with twenty does rather a lot.
